The journey of a player determined to make it in pro basketball.

" i've read a fair amount of "journal/diary by fringe NBA/Dleague/Semi-Pro players" by this point  and I gotta say, I've found em disappointing up until this point. Wayne Washington is the best writing player i ever did read on the blogs. " - Tom Deal

"The new class of Boom Tho, it's cool stuff"- Rod "too much Rod" Benson

"I know I for one will pay to read whatever you write." - Lafayette

" this was pretty damn good. the insight he provided was revealing. while he was talking about the specifics of the level at which he plays, i thought it echoed a position many of us find ourselves in - struggling in an in-between state where you didn't go down the normal, elite traditional path, but at the same time you didn't give up on the elite goal" - Reza Zonozi

Back with the Storm

January 5, 2012

This season I will be playing for the Winchester Storm of the EBA (Eastern Basketball Alliance).  The team is located in Wichester, Virginia and we play all our home games at Admiral Byrd Middle School.  Yes, I said a middle school but the facility is great and puts some high schools to shame.  All team information can be found at www.winchesterstorm.com including the roster and schedule.

After a roller coaster ride of an off-season traveling to tryouts I've found a great situation playing for Coach Morgan and the Storm organization. I'm excited to finally get started and start playing real games. While this is only their second season in existence they already have the support of the community and provide a true pro experience.  Our season begins this weekend with back to back games on Jan. 7th and 8th.

This off-season I continued to sharpen my point guard skills and added some small things to my game that will make a big difference. I feel like a NBA scout the way I've been watching, studying, and analyzing so much pro basketball.  Not just NBA basketball either but also leagues overseas thanks to youtube and ESPN 3.

My goals for this season are simple.

1. Win
2. Play efficient basketball (limited turnovers, great FG%, plenty of assist)

That's it.  If I do these things then good things will happen for me.  Time will tell.

Ohio Player

October 16, 2011

Last weekend I drove to Dayton, Ohio to attend a tryout for the Dayton Air Strikers of the PBL.  The drive from Virginia was about 9 hours.  There's always a element of mystery when it comes to these tryouts because you never know what to expect.  Will the coach do a hour of conditioning drills? How good will the competition be?  These aren't worries but just questions.  As a pro athlete you should be in great shape and confident in your game always.

The tryout was held at a YMCA and the turno...

Back across the border

September 17, 2011

Recently I had another opportunity to play in the NBL Canada. This time I attended the Oshawa Power Showcase on September 10 and 11th.  Financially flying was out of the question this time so I had to get on the bus like Spike Lee.  I took the megabus and it was a decent ride.  Other than the wifi not working I didn't have any complaints for a 12 hour ride.  I just listened to my ipod and slept the whole time. The bus arrived in downtown Toronto around 10:30 pm.  The city was alive and looked...

Canada the land of opportunity

July 27, 2011

If you've been living under a rock or just don't follow international basketball then I'll be the first one to let you know that Canada has an official professional basketball league now.  This upcoming 11'-12' season will be the first season in the league's history.  Three teams that left the PBL will join four new franchises to make up a total of seven teams.  On August 20 and 21st the NBL Canada will hold a combine and draft in Toronto.  For complete details go to http://www.nblcanada.ca/d...

It aint over yet

July 2, 2011

I think we can all agreed and say life is hard and bills need to be paid.  I've missed out on all of the exposure events I wanted to attend this summer because of financial issues.  On the brightside, it's only July and hopefully things will change for the better.  I'm still in shape and ready for action.  I'm not ready to hang up the kicks yet.....
